Soprano
GiGi Crenshaw

GiGi Crenshaw was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas and has been involved in the arts since she was six years old. GiGi participated in community and school theater and choirs. She attended Arkansas All Region and All State as a soprano for multiple years and performed with multiple honor choirs. GiGi also performed in many musical theater programs and attended the AMDA summer theater program in NYC in 2019. GiGi’s love for music and theater has been very prominent in her life and she has just graduated from UMKC with a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance.

During her time at UMKC GiGi was a part of UMKC’s leading choirs and performed in multiple operas with UMKC. GiGi performed as Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and most recently, Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. GiGi also performed with UMKC’s Sight and Sound mini concert series at the Nelson Atkins Museum. GiGi has studied with Dr. Aidan Soder in her last year at UMKC and finished off her last semester with a senior recital where GiGi performed in five different languages and sang baroque to contemporary music.

GiGi hopes to continue on with school and pursue a career in classical music. From the process to the product, GiGi loves her work as an artist. Singing with the Westwood Ensemble has been an exciting next step in GiGi’s career and she can’t wait to see what is next!

Madeleine Smith
Madeleine is a mezzo-soprano from Portland, Oregon, pursuing a Masters in Vocal Performance with Dr. Aidan Soder at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music & Dance. She received her Bachelor of Music from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and an Associate of Arts degree from Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri.
As a graduate student at UMKC, Maddy has performed as Sally in Barber’s A Hand of Bridge, La Badessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, the chorus of Mozart’s Die Zaberflöte and looks forward to performing as Marcelina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. As an undergraduate student, Maddy had the opportunity to perform as La Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Annio in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, and Olga Olsen in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. In Summer 2022, she joined Opera in the Ozarks as an Emerging Artist, performing as Charlotte and Mrs. Anderson in Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, Suzy/Lolette in Puccini’s La Rondine, as well as being a featured performer in the company’s popular cabaret shows. In previous summers, Maddy has worked with Amarillo Opera, Taos Opera Institute, and Music in the Marche.
Maddy plans to pursue a career in opera, in addition to pursuing interests in diplomacy, international relations, and law. When not in the practice room or a rehearsal, Maddy enjoys reading, hiking and exploring new places.
